We were recently called out to remove a large poplar stem that had failed, falling over a public footpath and onto the neighbouring football club buildings.
Five days of prep work was carried out to remove as much brash and timber as possible, followed by the installation of trackway to create access and a working pad for a 100 tonne crane and 47 metre MEWP. Chainsaw operatives were fitted with inertia reel fall arrest kits, enabling us to safely dismantle the stem and prepare sections for lifting.
Line blocks with additional protection were taken, allowing us to lift the remaining large timber back onto Network Rail land, with all remaining timber and arisings were chipped back over the boundary fence, before the site was tidied and the footpath reopened.
