We are committed to creating social value in everything we do. Our social value efforts centre on three core principles: investing in people, supporting local communities, and creating jobs.
According to a recent report from the Institute of Chartered Foresters, there is a severe shortage of young people entering the fields of arboriculture and forestry. Stating that a 70% increase is required if the government is to meet its tree-planting targets.
As part of our effort to bridge this gap and support these industries, we have been teaming up with local colleges and supporting their STEM-based events by providing expertise on technology, biodiversity, and the advantages of proper forestry management and highlighting the career choices available to students from nearby schools.
We are proud to contribute to the local community by offering support to a variety of sporting clubs, such as Petersfield Rugby, Westfield youth Cricket Club and local youth football teams. These clubs act as a vital hub for the community and we are proud to be able to help.
We help local nursery and primary schools by providing the resources and labour to transform unused areas into multi-functional outdoor learning spaces. Our teams repurpose waste by-products, such as using felled trees to create stepping stones, tables and stools and safe play area bark chippings, creating outdoor learning areas that can accommodate a variety of activities and enable learning which is both engaging and fully interactive.
We hold and attend fundraisers regularly throughout the year to support local charities and organisations, including donating to food banks and Friends Fighting Cancer - a charity which grants aid to families living with the financial strain of cancer. Furthermore, we show our support for national charities - like The Railway Children - by sponsoring annual golf tournaments and taking part in the Big Sleepout; helping to raise funds towards aiding vulnerable young homeless people in the UK, India and Africa.
We are dedicated to creating jobs and providing economic opportunities in a number of ways. This includes ensuring that all employees are paid a fair wage and provided with career guidance, training, and development opportunities. We also offer apprenticeships and internships for young people, giving them a chance to gain valuable experience and build a successful career path.
