We are looking for a new Forestry Assistant to learn the ropes and help us provide a service that is second to none.

About the vacancy:
COOMBES requires an assistant to support our busy forestry team across a range of operations, on a full time, permanent basis. The successful applicant will assist with all aspect of our forestry works including the timber harvesting operations but will also include other work such as roading, reinstatement works, and establishment. Based in Petersfield and operating in woodlands across the south-central area of England, the successful candidate must have hand cutting experience as well as the relevant competencies/tickets.
The role will require you to be a self-motivated team member who can work both independently and as part of a team. You will take pride in your work and complete tasks to a high standard. You will be field-based for the majority of your time, so you must be happy to work in all that the British weather has to offer!

• Relevant chainsaw tickets
• Mechanical skills (general repairs, fitting parts on machinery, etc.)
• A good understanding of, and application of health, safety & environment practices.
• Ability to plan logistics within set timescales
• Ability to read and interpret maps, including GPS/GIS
• Flexibility in your approach to work and problem-solving skills
• Physically fit
• IT literate with experience using email, MS Word and Excel.
• Excellent communication skills
• Full driving license
